SensiJet® Pyrite

Developed specially for acid etch resist applications, SensiJet® Pyrite is Sensient’s flagship digital ink that is resistant to all acid-etching processes.

With excellent fastness performance and outstanding durability, SensiJet® Pyrite offers incomparable adhesion when printed onto stainless steel and other metallic substrates.

Ideal for digital relief patterning or digital engraving of cylinders, emboss rollers and emboss plates, SensiJet® Pyrite can also be used for dielectric insulation.

Providing both print reliability and outstanding reproducibility, SensiJet® Pyrite black ink is a fast cure solution that has been tested on a number of industrial printheads to offer maximum flexibility.

Properties:

Shelf life

Inks should be stored in a controlled environment at a temperature between 10-30°C. If stored under these recommended conditions, the inks have a shelf life of 12 (twelve) months. If the ink exceeds the shelf life detailed on the bottle, please contact Sensient directly for advice on continued use.

Due to the range of potential markets, fastness for each substrate and application should be verified according to the requirements

How to use

Printing & application

In an etching process, SensiJet® Pyrite is printed directly onto the substrate via a print fixture or system equipped with a specified industrial print head and inline fixation. Multiple layers may be needed if a deeper etch is required. Once printed, the substrate is immersed into an acid etching solution, where the steel may be etched away leaving a relief pattern where the ink has been printed. Once the process is complete, Pyrite can be removed with caustic soda. In other applications, Pyrite is printed and fixed to the substrate in-line prior to any further processing as required

Fixation

After printing, the ink should be fixed in line by conventional UV light exposure. Fixing should take place within seconds to avoid color bleed or loss of line accuracy.
